For the past several years, streaming has become a huge way for people to watch the shows and events that they love.
There were more than 74.4 million Netflix subscribers in the US and Canada alone by the midway point in 2021, according to CNBC. This boom has been driven primarily by lockdowns keeping people at home, but the convenience of watching the shows you love when and where you like is appealing to most customers. More and more films, series, and gaming are being streamed to viewers around the world.
On top of the movies and shows that people often stream, there has been a growth in demand for live sports events to be streamed. The Super Bowl, often the benchmark for high demand sporting events, touted an average of 5.7 million viewers in 2021, an increase of 68% over the previous year, as reported by the New York Times. This increase in demand has led many apps to offer live streaming as part of their service. A classic example being the Coral Sports and Casino app. It live streams events, including selected soccer games from La Liga and Series A. Their offering is limited to selected events, but the focus on live streaming sporting events and other shows is not likely to go anywhere soon.
Aside from a stable internet connection, it is important to have a good device to stream with to make sure you get the best picture and don’t have to deal with unnecessary buffering. Here are a few of our top picks for tablets to make sure you never miss a moment of your favorite sporting event.
Fire HD 10
This budget tablet will run you around $200, but that doesn’t mean it lacks in the performance department. With a 10-inch full HD panel display and two Dolby speakers, it will give you a great display and sound experience. It has 2GB of RAM and a quad-core processor, so it has plenty of power to stream videos and sports. However, it won’t be able to do much more than basic tasks so if you want to do anything besides watch videos, you’ll want to invest in something with a bit more oomph inside.
If you’re looking for extra functionality from a device, you may want to consider a gaming PC. If so, be sure to check out our guide on the best options under $600.
Samsung Tab S4
This is another 10.5-inch display tablet, but the AMOLED display delivers crisp, clear image quality, with great contrast and vibrant colors. This makes it ideal for streaming sports. Plus, it has a decent 4GB of RAM and a powerful processor which should allow you to perform far more tasks than the Fire HD 10. However, it is a bit more expensive option at $300 for the basic model, but it is still excellent value for money.
Apple iPad Pro
For those who prefer the iOS operating system over Android, the iPad is still the gold standard for tablets. In fact, it remains one of the best options on the market. The most recent version of the iPad comes in two display sizes. Both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch displays will give you excellent color and crystal-clear sharpness so it is really a difference between how large a screen you want. There is very little difference between the two aside from price. These are by far the most expensive tablets on this list, coming in at $799 for the 11-inch version and $1099 for the 12.9-inch version. Apple products tend to be more expensive but they also provide excellent quality and good customer service so they are still a good option if you can afford them.
